REGULAR EVENTS

There are several events which happen every year and are well worth a trip to Beaumaris.

January

New Year's Day Tug of War and Tractor Pull.

Watch teams from local clubs and organisations compete for bragging rights for the year by winning this traditional trial of strength. 

May

Beaumaris Festival

Now well into its fourth decade Beaumaris Festival has been bring exciting new performers (and some well established ones) to Beaumaris since the 1980s.  The programme is always diverse with opportunities to enjoy classical and jazz, orchestral and solo, instrumental and vocal.  The spoken word and visual arts get a look in as well.  Check out their web site for details of the next event.  

July/August

Sailing Regattas

There have been regattas on the Menai Strait since Victorian times.  Today it is a two week festival of sailing that has become a magnet for classic classes from North Wales and the North West of England.  Check out the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club web site for more details. 

September

Beaumaris Food Festival

A recent addition to the calendar, Beaumaris Food Festival has already established itself as a major celebration of excellence in local, national and international food production.  Come and enjoy cooking demonstrations, a wide variety of street food and drink and entertainment.  Visit their web site for the latest details of the next event.      

November

Bonfire Night Fireworks

Beaumaris Pier and the Menai Strait provide the backdrop for a stunning firework display over the Menai Strait.  Usually on the closest Saturday to the 5th of November it is the busiest day of the year in Town.  Come early and enjoy the build up to a sparkling show. 

Remembrance Parade

The Town Council, local groups and members of the community pay tribute to those who have fought and died for freedom and an end to tyranny.  The service of remembrance in the church is followed by a wreath laying ceremony and a parade through the town. 

Victorian Christmas

Beaumaris kicks off the Christmas Season with a festival of Christmas cheer and goodwill.  Stalls dotted around the town are an opportunity to start your Christmas shopping.  And at the end of the afternoon a special visitor turns up to lead a procession along the High Street for the Christmas tree lights to be switched on.

December

Hot Pennies

A traditional throw back to the days of the Boxing Day hunt.  Today the Mayor of Beaumaris scatters hot pennies from the balcony of the Bulkeley Hotel while children scamper below to collect them.

New Year's Eve Fireworks

Ring out the old, ring in the new.  As the clocks strike midnight to bring another year to an end in Beaumaris, the castle is is lit up by a dazzling display of fireworks.  Join the crowds in Castle Square to admire the show and welcome the start of a new year.
